We at the Langley chapter are always looking for new members. Please join us for our regular meeting held on the last Saturday of each month (except for May and August). Our May meeting will be on the second-last Saturday - the 24th and we won't have a meeting in August as too many members will be away. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts will be provided and we'll have door prize draws and good conversation for all. Come out and meet your fellow Langley HOGs and find out what we're doing.
Upcoming Events - (Check the events calendar for more details)
Our regular Wednesday evening rides are now happening. We've moved the start time back to 6:30 pm from the dealership to give people more time to get there. They will go to various locations depending on the weather and the wants of the riders each night.
Note that the next chapter meeting is on Saturday, June 28th.
Our next BIG event will be the Celebration Ride on June 21st. It is a combined event - hot rods and bikes and includes a pancake breakfast and a BBQ and band at the end. It will be similar to a poker run, so there will be prizes and t-shirts as well. Register ahead for this through the events calendar.
On Sunday, June 22nd after our regular breakfast at Ricky's in Walnut Grove, there will be a ride to Queensbourough Park in New West for the annual MDA picnic. Lots of fun and a great cause - a Langley HOG tradition. If you can't make the breakfast, meet us at the park.

| Past Events Many of our members rode to Kamloops for the last weekend in May and while we didn't win any prizes this year, we were well represented and the weather was great! Click here to go to their pictures.
Several of us who didn't go to the "Loops" rode in the Ride For Dad which was very well organized and raised over $100,000 for prostate cancer research.
Several of our members travelled south to Wenatchee and Leavenworth for the Victoria Day long weekend. Check out their pictures by clicking on this line.
After our meeting on Saturday, May 24th about a dozen of us rode up to Cultus Lake for lunch and then stopped at the Birchwood Dairy for ice cream on the way home. Click here for a couple of pictures from the Cultus Lake pub parking lot.
On Sunday, April 20th after our regular HOG breakfast, 5 hardy souls headed for The Sasquatch. Check out their pictures here by clicking on this line.
Grand Opening/Demo Day
On Sunday, April 13th a very large crowd gathered at the dealership for the grand opening, demo day rides, chili cookoff, bake sale and much more. Sales of hamburgers, hot dogs, chili and baked goods totalled almost $3,000.00 for the HOG coffers! Many thanks to all those who volunteered to help us out. Click here to see some pictures from the event.
Bowling/Dinner night
On February 16th close to 40 members went to Clover Lanes and The China Kitchen for a night of "fun bowling" and dinner. Everyone was a winner!
New Meeting Location
We held our first meeting in the new Barnes Harley-Davidson location at 200th Street and Highway 1 on Saturday, January 26th. We decided to have it there at the last minute as the building is not yet completed and we weren't sure we could pull it off but we did! Ingrid managed to get 80 chairs in our future meeting room and there were still people standing, so thank you very much for showing up in great numbers at the new location on such short notice. We had some VIP's there as Elisa Fidani from HOG Canada dropped in as well as Cliff Randall (our BC/Yukon HOG rep). Most members had a tour of the building after the meeting. It's going to be gorgeous! Click here to see some pictures from the meeting.
Christmas Party
We had close to 90 people brave the blizzard on December 1st to pack the Lion's hall in Fort Langley for our year-end bash. Special thanks go to Penney, Rose and Cam for spearheading the organization of the event from the HOG side and to Ingrid and Greg from the dealership side. Without you it wouldn't have been such a big success. Many other people helped out in various ways as well (getting the food ready, selling tickets, cleaning up, etc.) I can't list you all here, but we know who you are. Thanks! Many people mentioned to me during the evening, that it was a great party. I agree.Click here to see some pictures from the evening.
November Meeting
We had lots of guests and guest speakers at this meeting. Click here to see some of the highlights.
Harley The Scarecrow at Ladner Halloween celebrations!
The Ladner Business Association had it's annual Halloween celebration on the evening of October 30th and Barnes HD and HOG were there. Click here to see our scarecrow with some of his friends!
October 27th was our "Halloween" meeting and some of our members came in costume. Click here to see what we had to put up with! We also had a BBQ going and thanks to the good weather lots of people took advantage of that to hang around and chat while enjoying a burger and a cupcake.
October 21st was our fall Demo Day but we weren't able to take any rides out because it rained the whole day. We were able to set up our BBQ however and managed to make some money even! Many thanks to the many helpers and buyers who hung out in the cold and wet to make it happen. Click here to see the drips!
Langley Cruise-in
We had several HOG members help out at the Langley Cruise-in on Saturday, September 8th. It was the first year a motorcycle "show-n-shine" was included in what has been a car event in the past and our members helped register and park the bikes and distribute helium filled balloons to the kids among other things. Over 70 bikes signed up and everyone agreed it was a big success. Click here to see what we were doing.
Recent Rallies
The Washington State Rally
We had over 20 members at this rally in Bellingham. The weather co-operated and we ended up winning lots of prizes. Click here to see who the winners were.
The Canadian Rally
We had 10 members from Langley HOG at the Canadian Rally in London, Ontario last month - an excellent showing. Rocky's was the host dealership and they had an excellent BBQ with 2 great bands on Thursday night. Friday, we went to Western Fair Raceway for an evening of dirt track motorcycle racing and Saturday we had an excellent meal in the Progress Building of the fairgrounds followed by THE WORST COMEDIAN I'VE EVER SEEN! He lasted about 15 minutes and then exited the stage while the rest of us kind of "drifted away"! Click here to see the photos.
Friday The 13th
I also went to Friday The 13th in Port Dover, Ontario the week before the Canadian rally. There were well over 100,000 people in town for that one day event. Click here to see some photos from Port Dover.
Western Regional Rally
On Thursday July 12, 2007-Twenty-two Langley HOG Chapter members departed the Vancouver area on 13 Harley Davidsons. The destination was "HOGs in the Heartland" which was the 8th Annual Western Regional HOG Rally in Prince George, BC. The group made it to Lac La Hache on Thursday night and rode the rest of the way to Prince George on Friday. On Saturday there was a full day of activities which included 2 Poker Runs, a Show & Shine, Bike Games, and a Chapter Flag Ride. The awards banquet and dance was held Saturday evening at the Prince George Civic Center.
Roy Mayes won one of the Poker Runs with four 6's, Keith Hamblin won 1st prize in the Show & Shine (Antique Class), and Tim & Cheryl Bostan won the Weiner Bite event. Due to a very strong showing by The Langley HOG Chapter, WE WON THE CHAPTER CHALLENGE for 2007. Way to go Langley!
A big "Thank You" to Cam & Rose Jorgundson for organizing and leading this event on behalf of our chapter. Click here to see photos from Prince George.
Alberta Provincial Rally
The Alberta Provincial Rally in Medicine Hat was also well attended and we won an award and 2 substantial door prizes there. Wendy Topnik scooped a beautiful Harley art piece and Jeanette Banta walked away with "his and her" Harley watches while Kristin Gilder won the "Youngest Rider" award. Congratulations Kristin. "! Ride For The Cure - Chilliwack
More rain and cold! When will it end? Tom Barnes and I were the only 2 from Langley to make this ride (although Linda Kinney was helping out at the Chilliwack dealership). We decided to avoid the rain for the rest of the day and ended up at the Sasquatch Inn for lunch (where they were preparing for a show and shine) and then we headed home, so we never did get back to the gloom of Chilliwack for the closing festivities! Click here to see the photos.
Campbell River Poker Run
Richard Rowsell is a Langley HOG member from Vancouver Island and he sent us these photos from the recent poker run in Campbell River. Click here to see the photos.
Father's Day Sale BBQ
It was another gloomy day but a few HOG members brightened up our BBQ on June 16th and and made $136.97 for charity. Many thanks to Pat, Dave, Ingrid, Lorne, Rose, Cam, Penney, Rory and Bob for helping us out and many others who dropped by to visit. Click here to see the photos from Sunday.
Kamloops Poker Run - 2007
June 9th and 10th was the Kamloops Poker run and several Langley HOG members made the trip. Tim and Cheryl Bostan took several pictures of the event. Click here to see the photos and see if you recognize all those that went. (By the way, for those of you who haven't left the coast for a while, that's what DRY looks like!)
Saturday After-meeting ride
After the meeting on Saturday (May 26th) 17 bikes and at least 21 riders headed for lunch at The Sasquatch Inn out Highway 7 near Agassiz. I don't imagine we made any friends in the car line waiting to board the Albian ferry as the ferry workers filled the back third of the ferry with our bikes (plus some others) ahead of some of the cars in the lineup! Oh well, the food was good and the weather co-operated. Click here for photos!
Sunday All-day Ride
This Sunday (May 27th) 5 people went on our first all-day ride of the year up the Coquihalla to Spence's Bridge. Here is an account of the ride by Tom Barnes: 5 riders on the ride including myself, Juanita, Roy, Sharon and Ray.
Left the dealership under cloudy skies at 8:15 and went to Rickey's Restaurant in Walnut Grove for breakfast. Hit the #1 highway and had clear sailing until Chilliwack when the torrential downpour started. Put on raingear and gassed up in Hope and continued on. It poured until about 3 kms this side of the tollbooth, then the skies cleared and it was a beautiful ride to Merritt and on to Spences Bridge. Came out from lunch and it was pouring again! Fortunately it was only bad for about 10 kms and then the skies cleared again and it was a beautiful ride down the canyon and on to route #7 and home.Click here for photos!
Millie's Farewell Party
Millie Adams, our friend and fixture at many HOG events over the years is retiring and moving to Red Deer, Alberta soon to be closer to her kids and grandkids.
We held a "farewell party" for her at the Cloverdale Legion on Saturday May 12, 2007 and many of our HOG members attended. Click here for photos!
Good luck Millie. We'll miss your smiling face!
Experienced Riders Course
Ten members of Langley HOG attended the Safety Council's Experienced Riders Course last weekend on an unused runway at Boundary Bay Airport. The instructors were great. We all had fun and even managed to learn and practice safer motorcycling skills which will help us all to be better riders. (I even learned the proper way to pick up a downed bike!) Do you know the right way?Click here for photos!
Spring Demo Day
Sunday, April 22nd was Demo Day at the dealership and HOG was there in full force. Six of our members acted as road captains and worked every demo ride of the day. Several other members also manned a fast food booth and raised over $800 for our charity.Click here for photos! |
